Efectos del entrenamiento físico sobre la capacidad física y los marcadores de la inflamación crónica en personas mayores: una revisión

Resumen

El propósito de esta revisión es de evidenciar la información sobre los efectos de distintos programas de entrenamiento en la capacidad funcional y en la inflamación crónica en adultos mayores (AM). Los datos se obtuvieron de consulta directa a la literatura científica indexada en las siguientes bases de datos: PubMed, Cochrane, ScienceDirect, Elsevier, Scielo, Proquest, Ebsco y Lilacs, entre los meses de Mayo y Septiembre del año 2015. Del análisis de los artículos obtenidos se concluyó que con programas de entrenamiento de resistencia o combinados aumenta la fuerza muscular en los AM. La capacidad aeróbica se incrementa más con el entrenamiento aeróbico, sin embargo también puede mejorar con otras modalidades de ejercicio. Por último, el entrenamiento tanto aeróbico como de resistencia pueden mejorar la inflamación crónica en los AM. No obstante, se necesita mayor investigación para establecer una relación directa entre los parámetros de entrenamiento, y la mejoría de la capacidad funcional y de los marcadores inflamatorios en los AM.
