Abstract

The present study aimed to determine which anthropometric factor (weight, height or body mass index) has a greater influence on the percentage of height of the center of mass (%COM) in adolescents practicing Kung Fu. Hence, 61 Kung Fu practitioners, 13 women and 48 men, were measured using the anthropometric scale method. The Kolmogórov-Smirnov test was applied to the sample and it was determined that the data is distributed normally. Student’s t-test for independent samples with a significance level of 0.05 showed that there were no significant di-fferences between men and women. And the Pears o n’s test r determined that height is a strong predictor of %COM with a significance level of 0.05. It was concluded that practitioners smaller in height will have more stability in combat since their %COM is closer to the ground.
