Comparación del rendimiento físico en las pruebas de salto horizontal y course Navette, entre jóvenes de 10 a 18 años de la Región del Maule (Chile) y Cataluña (España)

Abstract

The level of physical fitness is a good indicator of the state of general health among the inhabitants of a country, this is the reason why most of them, especially those with highly developed technical skills, have oriented part of their interest towards the investigation of the population behavior in respect to the levels of physical fitness. Chile is today in this situation, trying to discover the physical potential of its population and to see how it is in relation to other more developed countries such as Catalonia, Spain.

We think that this study will provide us with new elements judgment for implementing future programs that will improve physical condition in the school population of our country, as well as provide global attention to the problem.

For this purpose we have studied two factors of physical condition wich are explosive strength and cardiorespiratory endurance in a group of Chilean students who are between 10 and 18 years old, and then we compared the results with a similar sample of Catalonian young people.

The study allows us to conclude that in these two physical tests, the Catalonian students present a performance significantly superior to that observed in the students of the Region of Maule, Chile.
