Evaluación del desarrollo motor de los escolares de 6 a 10 años en la Región del Maule, Chile

Abstract

No doubt each motor activity is the basis of all further learning; children's natural happiness when moving, and their feeling of being "in control" after acquiring movement skills favor both their physical and mental health. When this is accomplished, it plays a significant role in children's ability to concentrate on and master their homework.

Keeping this in mind, it was deemed important to carry out a study that would allow us to learn about motor skills development of six-to-ten year-old school children of the Maule Region in Chile. The number of students assessed in this study was 2.824. Results will contribute to making a diagnosis of the current situation, and together with a solid scientific base, they will contribute to the planning of future steps aiming at developing a more authentic and meaningful learning experience for children, within the context of psychomotor development.
